SELENE (2026)

Shimmering Luna

SELENE (2026) is a perfumed tribute to the Ancient Greek Goddess of the Moon; a fragrant panorama of Mediterranean fields and forests, of mythic mountains in the Peloponnese, ancient temples and villages, and islands of the Aegean sea.

The fragrance opens with cool green notes and the totally natural freshness of wild, pure landscapes, all the way from open fields of wildflowers and healing herbs, through orchards and groves of citrus fruits, of olives and figs, to the windswept coast where *Cypress and Fir trees cast magnificent shadows across the landscape in the silver moonlight.

An otherworldly scent of nature, of temple incense, herbs, flowers and precious woods drifts through the night in a hauntingly beautiful brush with nature’s infinite mysteries.

I’ve reformulated the 2026 batch to be more luminous, more floral than the 2024 batch. This year’s formula for Selene is warmer in nature, more golden in tone, a Mid-Summer’s moonlit night in ancient Mycenae. The result is a vivid tapestry woven in potent plant-based aromatics that conjure sacred shrines and ancient temples set in lands traversed by foot, horses, donkeys, carts, chariots and ships. A tribute to the Goddess of the Moon and a libation of love crafted for the Divine Mother of Gnosis, **BARBELO

Top notes:-cold-pressed Lemon, Italian Bergamot, White Tea, Kashmir Lavender, Tasmanian Lavender, Galbanum, Floral Heart Notes: Italian Neroli, Linden blossom, Roman Chamomile, Night-blooming Jasmine, Jasmine Grandiflorum, White Lotus, Gardenia, Base Notes:- Mitti Attar, Mt Atlas Mastic, Copal Protium, Pink Pepper, Black Spruce, Juniper berry, Royal Green Hojari frankincense, Styrax absolute, Scots Pine resin, *Cypress, Mysore Sandalwood and Cedarwood

*Cypress trees symbolize eternity, immortality, purity, and stability. Their fragrant evergreen scent can be used to support an emotional crisis and help us rise above despair.

**Barbelo (Greek) refers to the first emanation of God in several forms of Gnostic cosmogony. Barbelo is often depicted as a supreme female principle, the single passive antecedent of creation in its manifold. This figure is also variously referred to as ‘Mother-Father’ (hinting at her apparent androgyny), ‘The Triple Androgynous Name’, or ‘Eternal Aeon’. So prominent was her place amongst some Gnostics that some schools were designated as Barbeliotae, Barbelo worshippers or Barbelo gnostics.
