NIGHT TRAIN TO SURAT THANI

NIGHT TRAIN to SURAT THANI – Wrapped in a sarong, I was 23 years old, unslept, yet wide awake on New Year’s night (1985), bumping and clattering through the Thai jungle with my brother, wide-eyed in pitch blackness on the night train to Surat Thani.

We’d flown out of Hong Kong straight after our gig finished on New Year’s eve at Ned Kelly’s Last Stand (bro’ on the bar and me on electric bass playing in the Kowloon Honkers band with Dad, the HK jazz guru) and we were on our way to Koh Samui for a week of chill. So many amazing sights and sounds and… luscious scents emanating from the Thai jungle.

Featured Notes: – Honey Murcott, White Lotus, Frangipani, White Tea and Mysore Sandalwood. A sweet sharp floral hedonism – for those who love dancing on the beach all night.
