ALIZES

Trade Winds from the East

FEATURED NOTES include:- Ginger, Cardamon, Cinnamon, Blue Lotus, Virginian Cedarwood, Indian Sandalwood, Labdanum, Benzoin and aged Sumatran Patchouli.

My original perfume EAST was a scent reference to the ‘chinoiserie‘; a French fascination for silk shawls (and other fashion items), wrapped in patchouli leaves, packed in camphor wood crates and shipped to France from China in the 18th century.

ALIZES (pronounced Ahh-Lee-Zay) is a variation on my original formula. This robustly woody amber perfume is a reference to the East Winds, also known as Alizes, or, the Trade Winds. This version references the spice routes of the past – in all their imagined vivid pageantry of adventure, piracy, history and danger.

Alizes imagines us swashbuckling through markets, ranging across deserts, chugging up rivers into wild jungles and crossing oceans in wooden sailing ships laden with precious cargoes of spice. As lovers of perfume, we seek to find the fragrant intersections of cultures existing far beyond; they call us, over and over, to reach for the flask for another inhalation of time.
