SUSINUM OIL PARFUM

Swaying to the Moon

AUD $75.00

In company with many, I was fascinated to read Sacred Luxuries: Fragrance, Aromatherapy and Cosmetics in Ancient Egypt by Lise Manniche several years ago. I was especially excited by the inclusion of formulas, and particularly those sourced from the source. The hieroglyphic inscriptions that remain on temple walls at places such as Edfu yielded gifts of profound value to perfumers, and especially so for natural perfumers.

My own batch of Susinum is merely the product of following the recipe. I’ve added some secret TR character just to sign the perfume as one of mine, but this is a tiny glimpse of the fragrances worn and beloved by the wealthy folk of Ancient Egypt. The not-so-wealthy were preoccupied with diverting the Nile to water their grain crops, and lifting enormously heavy blocks of stone…

Susinum is a blend of Lily, Blue Lotus, Myrrh and Cardamon. I have steeped it in fractionated coconut oil which has no smell and is infinitely stable/will not oxidise. It is the perfect medium for oil parfums. As well, it is beautifully emollient for skin and does not leave any oily residue…just a wonderful scent of antiquity and beauty.
